Carbohydrate Counting Resources for Children and Adults with Type 1 Diabetes

We are proud to collaborate with the International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) in developing a comprehensive series of resources on carbohydrate counting – Healthy Eating and Carbohydrate Counting for Children and Adults with Type 1 Diabetes. This resource is designed to teach and empower persons with diabetes and their families and carers in the essential skill of carbohydrate counting as an important aspect of diabetes self-management. Each resource has three sections:

  • Section 1: Covers the basics of healthy eating and provides insights into typical carbohydrate sources.
  • Section 2: Provides a list and pictures of carbohydrate foods commonly eaten in a specific country.
  • Section 3: Provides a list and pictures of carbohydrate foods commonly eaten in most countries.

The resource is suitable for persons with diabetes and their families and carers, and healthcare professionals.

For more information on how you can maximize the use of this resource as a part of diabetes and nutrition education, please refer to our 2023 Education Bulletin.

If you find this resource is useful and are interested in developing one for your country, please contact us via email. Also if you have developed a similar resource, please let us know.
